Urban Session Highlights Part II – Birmingham Alabama Portrait Photographer
Posted on March 25, 2010
Go ahead, tell me I am a blog slacker…. I can handle it. Things are crazy, wonderfully, busy over here! I have way more sessions that I have blog time. Three weddings in March and three in April is leaving us with little sleep and lots of work. But, we love it and couldn’t ask for a better job!!
Here are the last of the highlights from the Urban mini sessions. This first set of girls were so much fun for me to photograph. I taught the middle sister when she was 3 years old at church and it is amazing to me to see how much she has grown. There was so much laughter in this session. How wonderful it must be to have three girls… three sisters… three best friends, right???
I knew this session was going to be fun when big sister wanted to hold my hand as soon as she got out of the van. I hear from mom, that she was walking around a few days later telling everyone she was going to be a photographer when she grows up. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that!! Little brother is such a sweet soul and his laugh will just make you melt!
And last but not least… I have been looking forward to meeting this family for a long time. The daughter is one of my friends on facebook that I hadn’t had a chance to meet yet. It is a crazy small world because AFTER the session we learned that she is good friends with the family in the pictures above. They were booked back to back sessions and didn’t even know it. I had a blast with this session because after a day with all children’s sessions, it was nice to photograph a few adults. They thought it was hilarious when I started making faces at them like I do toddlers. It was a great way to get some great smiles! I hear there was a poll on facebook on what they should all wear. I think the blue was a FABULOUS choice.
101 in 1001 Update
Posted on March 16, 2010
Last week I completed one of my 101 goals. #20 to be exact. A month or so ago, I met the fabulous Lisa Marie Bearden for lunch. At the end of the lunch we talked about getting together with a few other photographers for a “shoot out” just for fun. She knew David Shirk and Cory has wanted to meet him a while. We left lunch with promises to set something up soon. A few weeks later, Cory and I had a babysitter for ours and David’s babies, Lisa Marie and David had the models, I had a dress to trash and we were ready! That morning we met several other photographers for breakfast and watched the nasty rain outside. Once the rain stopped we headed out for a great day. It was muddy and I ruined my shoes but it was so worth it. My favorite part of the day was later on when it was just a few of us left and we headed to the Boulder Field at the Preserve. We were all so excited with the results we were getting, it was like a bunch of kids at Christmas! Fun doesn’t even describe the day. It was great to connect with other professionals. There is so much talent in the area and we are blessed to be a part of that community.

Not me Monday

Settle in for some “not me” fun….
Things are going a little crazy over here as weddings kick into overdrive and spring portrait season begins. But I am keeping on keeping on… I certainly did not realize that it had been 4 days since I gave my kids a bath. No, I am always on top on regular bath routines. And when my precious Sarah became sick this week and I needed to take her to the doctor, I DID NOT keep a steady stream of gummy bears in her mouth to make sure she didn’t move in the doctor’s office while we were waiting. I did not bathe her in sanitizer when we left either. I am not a germaphobe. And when my daughter refused to take her pink bubble gum medicine, I did not have Cory hold her down on the kitchen counter while I forced the medicine down her mouth. And Sunday when I was dressing the children for church, I did not put white socks on Elijah with his black shoes because I couldn’t find any dark colored socks. No, my laundry is in perfect condition at all times. And while ironing his shirt and pants, I DID not iron his underwear because he begged me to. No, I have many more important things to do than to iron underwear. That’s all folks!
Two more pictures from Gatlinburg… at this point I don’t know when I will get to editing the pictures from our trip.
But, I will keep down a few whenever a I get a few seconds. One is my sweet Sarah in my new favorite hat and her and the other is Elijah playing pool. Yes, he is in his underwear…we took his pants off after being covered in snow. We were drying them…and he is SO adorable playing playing pool in his hat and no pants. He cracks me up!
