Where we are the next few weeks. :)
Posted on April 18, 2010
So in the next two weeks, I have 8 sessions to edit, 2 weddings to edit, 1 wedding to shoot, 9 sessions to shoot, pack up our entire house (we have lived here 5 years), sell lots of stuff we don’t need anymore, move into our new home, answer a million emails (well, maybe not a million, maybe 100…lol), clean up our old place, take care of two beautiful children and I am sure a thousand other things I don’t even know about. Add to that, Cory is still designing albums, invoicing, packaging and shipping orders and being an incredible husband. So, yes, we have a few things going on. There are times that I can’t even think about all that needs to be done in the next two weeks, it is all too overwhelming. BUT, these are all good things. After 5 years living in our current house, we have decided to move into something with less maintenance and little more space. We are moving from a house to an apartment. I know that sounds strange but after much prayer, we weren’t sure where we wanted to buy a house. We love our little home, the home we brought our children home in and the home that my grandmother lived in since the 60s, but the upkeep has been too much for us with two small children and a full time business that is blessed beyond belief. There are many things we are excited about…. no yard to mow for one (Cory is REALLY happy about this one), and when we have a problem with our home we can just pick up the phone and let someone ELSE take care of it. This is totally what we need for a little a while. It has also forced me to go through our stuff and give away or sell the things we don’t need. I discovered that I was holding onto stuff for no reason whatsoever. Do you do that too? Right now there are 10 contractor bags FULL of things we are giving away to charity. They have been sitting in our house for way too long and not blessing us, so why did I keep them around???
So, yes, we will be a little overwhelmed the next few weeks as we get settled. If we are slow in emailing you, getting your prints to you, or editing, I hope you will understand we are working as hard as we can over here. This next chapter in our life is going to be so good. Cory and I both feel the calling to simplify. To focus on our children and to focus on our business in a way we haven’t had time for in the last 3 – 4 years. So, bear with us as we get moved. Once we get moved, we both believe things are going to be greatly improved and that is so very exciting to both of us. Thank you to the most incredible clients in the world. I really mean that. The people we serve are so loving and gracious to us. One quick example before I end this…. one of my bride’s emailed telling me she loved the sneak peek and couldn’t wait to see more pictures. I told her we were moving and I was a little behind BUT I was still working on her wedding. She emailed me back to tell me to stop working on her wedding and to focus on my family until we moved. I was so touched. I have finished her wedding and she loves them, but I am constantly amazed at how great our clients how and how BLESSED I am to serve them.
Since I can’t post without pictures… check out a few of my faves from the last month!
Not me Monday
Posted on April 13, 2010
Here is my not me monday and it is certainly NOT a day late… no…. it isn’t…
So, if you are on facebook with me you have seen how excited I was about Sarah in pigtails for the first time. I feel like I have waited 1/2 my life for a little girl in pigtails:
And when Elijah who is NOT dealing with jealousy issues wanted pigtails too, I did NOT give him pigtails and then I certainly DID NOT take a picture of him with them.
And when they both begged to have thier picture taken together with pigtails, I didn’t keep snapping away and I did not crop out the pigtails in one of the pictures either. Nope…. not at all.
Due in two weeks – Birmingham Alabama Maternity Photographer

Wow, to look this good so close to your due date!! She makes being pregnant look easy! One of my favorite families gave this family a gift certificate to welcome the new baby. This mom decided to take advantage of the free maternity session with any booked newborn session. I am looking forward to the new arrival very soon! I love that I was able to spend some time on the older brother and sister. The weather was beautiful and the family is picture perfect!
