2200 miles!

Posted on June 27, 2010

We traveled 2200 miles to Cory’s cousin’s wedding. I know the blog is slow… we are spending lots of time with family. Making the most of the little time we have together. I will be posting more once we start our trip again. We will be leaving for Arizona on Tuesday. Until then…. one of my favorites from yesterday!

Day Four – California – WE MADE IT!!

Posted on June 22, 2010

Yes, we made it. We drove around 2200 miles to arive in Del Mar, California. Today was a short day compared to the other days but I think everyone was just ready to get to California. We saw some of the most amazing things. We reached elevations of 4000 feet! We saw the border of Mexico again. We were stopped by border patrol more times that I want to talk about… but we made it! Tomorrow is a day for us as a family to enjoy the area. We are having our pictures made as a family and we plan to check out what the area has to offer. We are so very blessed to have this time together as a family. This for sure is a once in a lifetime event.

We were all excited when we started seeing the big cactus on the side of the road. Awesome! Something taller than Cory….

Yes, it was HOT…. really…. really…. HOT.

And the border sign…. Yay!! We were all clapping!

The desert right across the border. I had no idea it would look like this. We all sang the song “Rollin down the sandhills” By the Wiggles… perhaps we were getting delirious!

He loves this hat. I love his eyes. My sweet, sweet, boy….

Pictures from the mountains… amazing mountain.

We ended the day on the Pacific Ocean at sunset. Elijah said the beach was weird…lol. He wanted sand to dig but he enjoyed throwing rocks. :)

Day Three- Texas, New Mexico, Arizona

Posted on June 21, 2010

Wow, what a day! At the end of the night we downloaded our pictures and we took 243!! Yes, we saw so many things that I wish I had enough time to edit them all and show them all to you now but it is midnight Alabama time and I am just now writing this blog. It was such an amazing day. We left Odessa, Tx around 8 am central time and headed towards New Mexico and Arizona. We decided last minute to visit Tombstone, AZ at the end of day and I am so glad we did. We ended our day walking the streets of Tombstone… acting like cowboys and ate dinner with cowboys. We had ribs and steak at sunset. You couldn’t have asked for a better day. Happy Father’s day to my wonderful husband…. :) He is some kind of wonderful and I couldn’t ask for a better father for my children or a better husband for me!

We saw the best scenery today to say the least. Every turn showed a beautiful vista. What an amazing country we live in!

We had hotdogs here. Cory was happy with his Father’s Day lunch!

This is how close we were to Mexico. We are not visiting Mexico this time and we delighted to be able to see Mexico so close. This was taken while driving 70 MPH on I-10.

And here are my favorites from Tombstone. Elijah was so excited to have a real cowboy hat and see a real cowboy town. It was a wonderful visit even though we didn’t stay for long.

And the sunset on the way “home” to the hotel…. wow, we saw amazing things today.
