These are the last of my favorites from the engagement session we did while we were in Louisiana. This was such a special session for me. We had just met in person the day before but we talked several times a week on our message board thread. I already knew how beautiful she was on the inside from being her friend for three years and now I had the chance to capture her outer beauty. She is beautiful and they are so in love.
I have family visiting today so I don’t have a lot of time but I wanted to show two more portraits from a recent engagement session.
Starting today we are running what I think will be our best giveaway ever! I have said for years that I think that everyone has a story. Everyone has something remarkable about them and if you take the time to get to know someone, then you’ll learn something you never knew about life.
I hear from many blog readers that the reason they love our blog is that we tell a story with our pictures and I want to expand upon that idea. For the next 10 months, we will give away a free digital session ($1000 retail value with session fee included) to one family a month. This will be a special session in that it includes both a traditional portrait session, and I will take a little time to learn about your family. I’ll write a story using what I learned about your family and include it with your portrait session.
Basically, this is your chance to either tell your story or to nominate someone else for their story. If you’re worried about me posting some deep secret about you, don’t worry because the winning families will get the opportunity to approve the story before it is released and no names will be used. What do you end up with? Your entire session on CD for you to print to your heart’s content and the story of your family written to keep forever.
Here are the rules:
1. You can nominate yourself or someone you know.
2. Email me at sam@hishandsphotographs.com and tell me why you want to be one of the 10 families in 10 months. Also, include your phone number and the ages of each member of the family.
3. In this case a family is any combination of people. (i.e. extended family, family with children, a couple without children, adult siblings, best friends, etc.) I am interested in the story behind the people, not necessarily the strict definition of a family.
4. If you are selected as one our families, requests for what month you would like your session will be considered, but not guaranteed. We reserve the right to choose the families we think will be best for the project.
5. The families selected will be required to sign a model release. A parent must sign for an child under 18 years of age.

Last fall this groom asked his bride to marry him on the day of the first Alabama Football home game in Tuscaloosa. Isn’t that nice? But it gets better… he took her in a helicopter and proposed over the stadium! How cool is that? Of course, the only place for the engagement session was the stadium! The wedding is in April at Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion. I hope you enjoy the sneak peak!

Cory and I have thought long and hard about this and we think it’s time to go forward with it. We’ve been so blessed with some really great customers and have even made great friends through this business. We’ve also witnessed people going through some really hard times (including ourselves at one point or another) so we wanted to think of some way to use our business that could actually make an impact, even if it’s a small one, during a time when every penny can count. What we came up with was a referral program that has to be one of our most ambitious ideas yet. It’s one we don’t think anyone in our industry is even willing to think about in these hard economic times.
One of the new, fun things we’re doing is called the 365 project and the goal is to post on your blog at least once a day for an entire year! We started this adventure on January 1st and so far have been able to keep up with only one minor foul while we were out of contact in Louisiana shooting a wedding.
