The Unexpected – Birmingham Wedding and Engagement Potography

I was looking forward to a new location for this engagement session. The day was beautiful, sunny and PERFECT. Then I pulled into the parking lot 15 minutes early and saw the dark clouds above. Almost like perfect timing, the rain started just as this couple pulled up. We talked about our options and I said, if we are all here and dressed let’s take a few and play around a little. If you don’t like them, we can reshoot. Can I tell you I had the BEST time shooting under an umbrella in the rain. We ended the session with the couple dancing in a light rain. It was so much fun! The couple loved them too and there was no need to reshoot.

So, this has totally changed my view on shooting the rain. We have to avoid it most of the time, but I will never forget this session in the rain! Totally original!

Capture the Moment – Birmingham Wedding Photographer

I have a story to tell you about this picture. We were at the Sonnet House a few weeks ago and I noticed this curtain before the bride was dressed. I made a note to myself to get a shot of her through the curtain after she put her dress on. The day went on and as I walked in the room, I saw her standing by herself adjusting the side of her dress. Snap. I then told her to stand and pose for two shots. There were lots of women in the room so it was really neat to capture the first picture without anyone in it and in the end… I only kept the natural shot. It was the one that made Cory and I gasp when we were looking through the wedding the first time. I love capturing the natural and even when we try to set it up…sometimes  the natural unposed shots work best!

Perfect Wedding Day- Northport Wedding Photography

This wedding took us down to Northport to the Maxwell-Peters Home. When I found out we would have a wedding here, I was so excited because of the beautiful train trestle is background (not to mention the house is classic elegance!).  The wedding day was so much fun! The bride’s super cute nephew almost stole the show from the bride, he loved the camera too! What I love so much about this couple is the way that the groom takes care of his bride. All day before the wedding, he did whatever she needed. And then I saw him ask her if there was anything else right before we went to get dressed. And she loves him so much. You can tell her heart swells whenever he is around. I love that our job is to see couples like this. Thanks C and L for allowing us to share in your perfect wedding!

Rustic Setting – Birmingham Alabama Family Portrait Photography

I was really looking forward to this session. This mom is the nanny for another family of mine. During the other family’s session, I heard the nanny would take their little boy and sit in front of construction sites just so the toddler could see real tractors. That made my heart smile because Cory has done the same with Elijah. Anyone who loves a little boy enough to show him real tractors is pretty cool in my world! So, I was happy to meet her and her gorgeous daughters! (Dad came too!) This family was so easy to photograph, just picture perfect! We changed our location within hours of the session and I am really glad we did. This is one of my favorite places for a session. I love the wood and the barn… all the warm colors. Love it!
