Have to, we just have to! – Birmingham Portrait Photographer

I love it when I can shoot in a client’s home. This family is about to move out of the first house that they brought their daughter into and I suggested we shoot their session there. What a great way to remember her first nursery! Years from now, when they look at these portraits and be able to tell her about the home she first came home to. :) Another beautiful thing about shooting in the home is that I am able to walk around and make the portraits personal to your family. I brought along a vintage suitcase but when I saw the moses basket, I fell in love. We looked through several outfits BUT when she showed me the blue dress, I knew we had to use it. Then I learn that mom’s mom made this for mom to wear years ago and now this sweet little miracle is wearing it! I love full circle momments like that! The beautiful yellow blanket… handmade just for her, along with the hat. Perfect!

Love her tongue sticking out!

I love how cropping off heads brings your attention to the hands. Safe and secure… and finally here!

Grandmother worked nearby and came by for a few minutes. I wanted to get a three generations in one picture. Add to that baby girl is wearing the very dress grandmother made for her. Love it, love it!

Gulf Coast Beach Portraits, His Hands Photographs

As a photographer, I have lots of ideas. Sometimes I am able to try them on my kids first and sometimes I run out of time. I bought this blue tutu because I wanted pictures of Sarah in it because she has the most beautiful blue eyes. I opened the tutus and used them for one session and everyone went wild. I kept putting off taking her picture in the tutu and 6 months later, I finally slipped it on her. I can’t tell you how happy these pictures make me. I have always wanted a little ballerina. Sigh… she is getting too big. I love her hair. It was styled by Daddy. She is COVERED in sand and I just love it. This was the first day that we gave up trying to keep her on a blanket and sand free. The world was her sandbox and life was good. My sweet girl, Thank God for you. You are such a light.

Rain Delayed – Birmingham Family Portrait Photography

Downtown Birmingham Family Portraits, His Hands Photographs

You know the Saturday day a few weeks ago when it was supposed to be sunny and it rained all day?? We tried for our session on that day, but the rain changed that. I asked if everyone was available for Labor Day morning and it all worked out perfectly! We met downtown and tried a few new spots. I just love the background! So much has changed for this family in the last year. A year ago, we had our first session when the oldest daughter was just 3 months old. In the last year, baby sister arrived! I was so surprised when mom called to set up a session with her new baby that is already 3 months old!! This big brother is so sweet with both of his sisters. He watches over them and makes sure they are ok. Just a sweetheart! This time I talked Grandmom into joining us. She came with us on the last session but I couldn’t talk her into a single picture. But, on this day, I was able to snap a few of her with her daughter and grand children. I really love it!

Perfect Location and Perfect Couple – Birmingham Wedding Photographer

This couple is our next wedding in October!  When I met with the bride about the wedding and asked her about how he asked her to marry him; she told me about a location in the middle of everything that she always thought was pretty. One day he surprised her with a trip to this beautiful waterfall. As soon as I heard the story, I told her we HAD to start the engagement session at that same place. I can not tell you the location since I don’t think we were supposed to be there… but… we weren’t there long! Then we drove to downtown to finish our session up. I can’t wait to see you guys all dressed up next month and to meet your friends and family!

I love getting the eyelash shot when they are snuggled together. :)
