More from the beach – Orange Beach Family and Child Portrait Photography

This little one  was such a trooper  was during our session. When we arrived at the beach, it was warm and BEAUTIFUL, then overnight there was a FREEZE. It was the craziest thing! This session was scheduled for months in advance so we went for  it. This family lives in Mobile so they were up for something different after a few beach shots. We headed to the Wharf to take in the sights. Notice the football gear on?? Mom said I had too many Alabama and Auburn fans this year and she needed to mix things up a bit! Oh…. and the light sabers… nothing is better than a fight between dad and daughter…. :)

MY baby girl – Birmingham Photographer

Gulf Coast Beach Portraits, His Hands Photographs

As a photographer, I have lots of ideas. Sometimes I am able to try them on my kids first and sometimes I run out of time. I bought this blue tutu because I wanted pictures of Sarah in it because she has the most beautiful blue eyes. I opened the tutus and used them for one session and everyone went wild. I kept putting off taking her picture in the tutu and 6 months later, I finally slipped it on her. I can’t tell you how happy these pictures make me. I have always wanted a little ballerina. Sigh… she is getting too big. I love her hair. It was styled by Daddy. She is COVERED in sand and I just love it. This was the first day that we gave up trying to keep her on a blanket and sand free. The world was her sandbox and life was good. My sweet girl, Thank God for you. You are such a light.

Wow, what a setting! – Point Clear Alabama Portrait Photographer

The Grand Hotel, Point Clear Alabama, His Hands PhotographsThe Grand Hotel, Point Clear Alabama, His Hands Photographs

Mom is from Louisiana and decided that this year on vacation, they were going to have family portraits! She looked up Alabama photographers and ended up on my site. She didn’t know how far Birmingham is from Mobile Bay, but it never hurt to ask. Turns out we were scheduled to be in the area and could extend our trip by one night. I was extra excited about this location because just a week or two before another family booked a session here for October. I had heard so many beautiful things about The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, but there no describing this place. Beautiful huge oak trees with draping moss, manicured lawns, ponds, fountains… and the beach… beautiful white sand and rocks. Just perfect. I want to live here… really.

And what a perfect family for a perfect setting! They loved crawling on the trees, talking about the ducks, throwing the sand. We talked about all the fun things the resort had to offer and how it was the perfect place for an end of summer get away.

He was looking for the bug in my camera… he found him. :)

Look at those incredible eyes!

This one just screams wall canvas to me!

This reminds me of the East Coast beaches but no, this is the Mobile Bay. Beautiful family portrait!

See the sand falling out of his hands, he was running towards me! Fun!

This picture just draws me in. What is he thinking? He is completely at home in dad’s arms!

He was just dancing the “Hot Dog” dance. Any parent of a preschooler will probably know that dance. He was quite the dancer.

Love the coloring on this one! Very vintage!

Here is that stare again… his eyes just draw you in!

So much that I love about this one… the lines, the sweet smile from big brother, and the gaze from little bro, the colors… I could just go on and on…

A little background about this one… the sun wasn’t really out for our session. It was overcast and perfect weather for a portrait session but everyone wants a sunset on the beach. We were completely done with the session and mom and I were talking about the next step in the portrait process and the sun came out bright, orange and perfect. I saw it out of the corner of my eye and I had to ask for one more picture. I am so in love with the result! Perfect!

Family Time – Gulf Coast Portrait Photographer

This “family” is actually two best friends. They have started a tradition of vacationing at the beach together. What a great idea! It will be fabulous memories as the kids get older. You would think that the moms were sisters and the kids were all cousins. Everything was easy and laid back. Love it! When one of the mom’s saw the portrait session, she told me to go ahead and book my room for next year the same time, that the portraits were joining this tradition. Isn’t that great?

With this set of beach sessions, it hit me what these portraits mean to the families that book us. When a family looks at a beach session they aren’t just reminded of the portrait session but also all the hours at the beach. The time where everything stopped and everyone was just together. The year where the baby loved to eat sand? yep, that is what you will remember! The year where your daughter was scared of the ocean but could dig all day in the sand? yep… I am honored to be a part of vacation memories. (Corny… probably… but true.)

Love how she is peeking back at me!

Look at how much she loves her momma?

It looks like a painting… I think. See how the little one is looking back at the ocean?

Love the color here!

So precious… I want this to be my children. But this would never happen… Elijah would hit her in the head but tenderly kiss Sarah?? Not going to happen.

Love the vintage tint on this! Perfect for the beach!

These are the grand parents… they did not want to pose for any pictures but I just love how they are looking at each other here!

Mom told me she has wanted this exact picture since her oldest daughter was born and that every year she tried to get this picture but it didn’t work out for different reasons. Here it is! I love how the baby is sucking her thumb and looking at me!
