101 in 1001 days update! #2

Posted on May 1, 2010

Another 101 things in 1001 days update…. obviously this is from a few months ago. Yes, I am THAT behind on the blog. The blog haunts me at night… anyway… I have always wanted to vacation with another family. This was #2 on my list. I just love this family so much. A little over a year ago, I met mom and the girls for the first time for a portrait session. Have you ever met someone and just felt like you should be best friends? This was a first for me but I felt this was about this mom. Our kids are the same age so that helps but I think we would have been friends anyway. In the last year we have become such good friends and our kids love each other. Things are just so easy when we are together and I feel like we could talk for days and never run out of things to say. I was a little worried about spending a long weekend with another family. Would our kids tire of each other? Would we tire of each other? Would our husband get along? But everything was PERFECT. We did so many fun things and were blessed with 7 inches of snow our first day. At the end of the trip I asked Elijah his favorite thing about the trip and he said, playing in the cabin. I agree! After our long weekend we have so many inside jokes (and blackmail….) and we have promises of future vacations together. Perfect!

P.S. Sorry friend that I didn’t notice your face being blocked. I was truly OFF work… lol. :)

101 in 1001 Update

Posted on March 16, 2010

Last week I completed one of my 101 goals. #20 to be exact. A month or so ago, I met the fabulous Lisa Marie Bearden for lunch. At the end of the lunch we talked about getting together with a few other photographers for a “shoot out” just for fun. She knew David Shirk and Cory has wanted to meet him a while. We left lunch with promises to set something up soon. A few weeks later, Cory and I had a babysitter for ours and David’s babies, Lisa Marie and David had the models, I had a dress to trash and we were ready! That morning we met several other photographers for breakfast and watched the nasty rain outside. Once the rain stopped we headed out for a great day. It was muddy and I ruined my shoes but it was so worth it. My favorite part of the day was later on when it was just a few of us left and we headed to the Boulder Field at the Preserve. We were all so excited with the results we were getting, it was like a bunch of kids at Christmas! Fun doesn’t even describe the day. It was great to connect with other professionals. There is so much talent in the area and we are blessed to be a part of that community.

More on Facebook. :)

101 in 1001 days – Birmingham Alabama Photographer

Posted on January 27, 2010

I came across this website a few weeks ago and I was so intrigued. The last 6 months or so I have realized that I don’t do anything but work and take care of my family. I keep telling myself that when I slow down I can do this… that… etc. You know how it is! But I have come to realization that life will never slow down and it is up to us to stop and do our best to do the things that make life worth it and at the same time taking care of the responsibilities in our life. That is why I thought 101 things in 1001 years is a great way for me to purposefully do things that I have always wanted to do. I plan to share each number with you on the blog. 1001 days is roughly 2 1/2 years. Some of my goals are hard to reach and some are very easy and simple, some are silly and some are more serious. I am excited just thinking about all the neat things I plan to do on purpose to enjoy the life that God has given us. Now, you will notice there are a few missing. I am just at a lost for more and I think I will be adding more as I think of them. Since so many of these are business related, Cory has added several of his goals on here too.
