First Look Favorite – Birmingham Wedding Photographer

Posted on July 6, 2009

I love it when a couple decides to see each other before the wedding. It is my experience that the couple is more relaxed after they meet and spend a little time alone. Then there is no rushing to get all of the pictures after the ceremony. When you have a “first look”, you and your husband-to-be have time alone. This was my favorite time of my wedding. I will never forget the look at Cory’s face when the doors opened and he saw me in the church… anyway… I am rambling…

This first look is from the wedding I am working on now….

I love how she is peeking around the door to make sure no one is looking while we walk her to the chapel to meet her groom.

Here she is with her sister. I couldn’t hear what was being said, but don’t you love the look on her face?

The beautiful bride waiting in the chapel for him to see her for the first time…

You know we have to play with some light…

Right before he walks in….

He opens the door….

Everything is perfect…

Cory said that when the groom walked in that it felt like he took the air out of the room. Cory and I were both in a hurry to get out of the room because we could just feel the love. We didn’t want to interrupt!

The first look this day didn’t go as planned because it rained the day of the wedding. We had plans to have the first look in the beautiful courtyard outside. BUT… I think I like the chapel better. It was very private and romantic… just perfect.

Sonnet House Wedding, His Hands Photographs

This couple was married at the Sonnet House and the weather was just amazing for June. It was below normal temperature wise and that was surprising for a June wedding but it was perfect for the wedding! This couple spent the whole day working hard to be ready for the ceremony. Once the ceremony started and the bride and groom were together, you could just tell how happy they BOTH were to be together for the rest of the night. The party was really rocking! The couple have the country band Deputy 5at the reception.  These guys were great and really set a fun tone for the entire night. Everyone was dancing, even those in their seats where tapping their toes and singing. Everyone was having a blast celebrating this incredible couple! Thanks S and B for such a beautiful day, we had fun meeting your friends and family!

Capture the Moment – Birmingham Wedding Photographer

Posted on June 28, 2009

I have a story to tell you about this picture. We were at the Sonnet House a few weeks ago and I noticed this curtain before the bride was dressed. I made a note to myself to get a shot of her through the curtain after she put her dress on. The day went on and as I walked in the room, I saw her standing by herself adjusting the side of her dress. Snap. I then told her to stand and pose for two shots. There were lots of women in the room so it was really neat to capture the first picture without anyone in it and in the end… I only kept the natural shot. It was the one that made Cory and I gasp when we were looking through the wedding the first time. I love capturing the natural and even when we try to set it up…sometimes  the natural unposed shots work best!
